If someone urges you to keep things quiet\u2014especially from your family, friends, or your credit union\u2014it\u2019s likely a scam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Creating false urgency.<\/strong><br>Scammers try to pressure you into fast decisions\u2014like withdrawing all your money or moving it to a \u201csafe\u201d account. Don\u2019t fall for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Pretending to be the government.<\/strong><br>The IRS, FBI, or local police will <em>never<\/em> demand payments via gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers\u2014and not over the phone, text, email, or social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. \u201cToo good to be true.\u201d<\/strong><br>If it sounds unbelievable, it probably is. Stay cautious of suspicious offers or requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. Playing on emotions.<\/strong><br>Scammers often act friendly or concerned\u2014asking about your family or well-being\u2014to gain your trust.
